COGEU Workshop on the Efficient Use of TV White Spaces in Europe

COGEU will organize a Workshop on the Efficient Use of TV White Spaces in Europe on November 10th in Munich.

The goal of the workshop is to stimulate discussions and exchange of ideas between the COGEU team, invited speakers and the audience as well as to validate COGEU's views and approaches about an efficient use of TV white spaces in European context.

A presentation entitled "COGEU project: Cognitive radio for an efficient sharing of TV white spaces in Europe" is being given today by Paulo Marques, at the 2011 Wireless Innovation Forum Conference on Communications Technology and Software Defined Radio, in Brussels, Belgium.

COGEU presented @ COST TERRA meeting

Rogério Dionísio participated in a COST-TERRA meeting in Brussels, between 21st and 23rd of June 2011, with a presentation on "DVB-T and Wireless Microphone Exclusion Area Computation through Interference Analysis."

COST IC0905 TERRA is one of the European networking activities within the framework of COST - European Cooperation in Science and Technology.

JUNE 2011 - COGEU Demonstrator @ Future Network and Mobile Summit 2011 in Warsaw, Poland

On the 15th and 16th of June 2011, at the FUNEMS Conference in Warsaw, Poland, COGEU stand showcased 4 posters with research results, and 3 applications through technology demonstrations, on wireless microphone sensing, spectral shaping and advanced "rendez-vous" techniques.

The demo was attended by many researchers, spectrum regulators and European project officers.

A paper entitled "TV White Spaces Maps Computation through Interference Analysis" was presented by IT at the Future Networks and Mobile Summit, in Warsaw, Poland.

COGEU Paper @ DySPAN 2011

A paper entitled "Exploiting TV White Spaces in Europe: The COGEU Approach" was presented by IT at the IEEE Dynamic Spectrum Access Networks (DySPAN 2011), in Aachen, Germany.

COGEU is getting in the policy debatte

COGEU was presented at the Hearings on the Radio Spectrum Policy Program organized by the European Parliament S&D Group.

The target audience includes European Parliament Members involved on the Radio Spectrum Program.

Paulo Marques informed the audience about the challenges and possible solutions for an efficient use of TV white spaces in Europe.

COGEU has attended the ETSI RRS meeting in November 23-24 in Munich. COGEU project was presented by IRT and cooperation with ETSI has started.

COGEU @ Workshop on Cognitive Radio Standards and Markets

Paulo Marques attended the third edition of the Joint IBBT and Massachusetts Institute of Technology Workshop on Cognitive Radio Standardization & Markets at the premises of IBBT-SMIT in Brussels on 22 November. The workshop, the most important non-technical event on Cognitive Radio in Europe, confronts the latest insights in Europe and North America regarding standardization, regulation and market issues for Cognitive Radio.

COGEU presented @ Meeting with Anacom (Portuguese regulator body)

NOVEMBER 2010 - Meeting with ANACOM - Portuguese Regulator Body

IT, as Coordinator of COGEU, participated in a meeting with the Portuguese Regulator, Anacom, to discuss the national standing in relation to the Digital Dividend and cognitive radio. The focus of the discussion was the regulatory requirements to enable the cognitive access to TV white spaces and the development of software defined radio technologies in Europe.
Future meetings are envisage to disseminate COGEU results and get feedback from the regulator's point of view.

Participation in SEAMCAT technical group (STG) meeting and workshop, in Copenhagen, Denmark - Rogério Dionísio attended the 23rd STG plenary meeting, on October 4. The meeting was hosted by ECO - EuropeanCommunicationsOffice, Copenhagen, Denmark.
